Review of Deeper (Underground Book 3) by Jenika Snow

4 stars!

I read, and loved, the previous story in the Underground series, His Wrath, and it made me really look forward to Tate's story. Now that I've read it, I've decided that I'm Jenika Snow's new number 1 fan. This series is great!

When Stella's gambling-addicted, still grieving father gambles his way into a hole, Stella is the one who has to suffer for it. The owner of the casino to whom Stella's father owes his debt is a ruthless man. Tate's used to taking what he wants all while feeling nothing but perhaps adrenaline and lust for a night. But when he sees Stella as she comes to pick up her drunk father, he decides he has to have her. What more perfect way to get her into his life than by calling due her father's debt? But, he'll be lenient just this once because he's that magnanimous (not really). If Stella submits to him in every way he wants for 2 weeks, he'll agree to forgive her father's debt. Tate (and Stella) just never imagined feelings might get in the way of their little arrangement.

I had thought after reading the synopsis that this would probably be a fun, sexy piece of fluff, but it's not. Oh it's sexy, but it's not fluff. Tate, in particular, has a lot of demons and is much more layered than he sounds in the blurb. I loved how Stella brought his deeper feelings out, and how he allowed himself to be vulnerable around her. Of course, he had to go and mess it up because he is a man after all, and a damaged one at that, but thankfully the two are able to resolve things without any OTT drama or angst.

I'm hoping there's more to come in this Underground series, but if not that's OK because Deeper is a great conclusion. It's emotionally substantive, well-written, and the connection between Stella and Tate is smokin' hot!

Review: Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette (American Revolutionary Tales 2) by Regina Kammer

Review of Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette by Regina Kammer Captain Samuel Taylor and Lieutenant Patrick Hamilton recall their first steamy encounter, which was a MFM threesome in a brothel. It morphed into more and now the two are contemplating their futures with the women they love, and their futures with each other. If you think times are hard for the LGBT community now, think of how hard they were during the American Revolution. Winter Interlude is well developed, which is surprising given its short length. I am so interested in knowing what is to become of Samuel and Patrick's forbidden relationship. Do they stay together? Or do they go their separate ways, and live out their lives with their women? Now that they've admitted their love for each other, how impossible would it be for them to be without each other? I have to know, now! If you like MM fiction and/or historical fiction, I highly recommend you give Winter Interlude a read. It...
