But here in his own story, wow, we learn just how much pain he has secreted deep (and not so deep) inside, where it comes from, and why he is the man he is today. In the prologue, which is heartbreaking, we're shown his first loves and first heartbreak. In the present, he's about to go fulfill a promise he made all those years ago. He just has no idea that a second chance, a new chance, and healing lie ahead of him, if he allows himself to accept those things, if he doesn't allow vengeance to take over his life. Wow...this is a beautiful, albeit heartbreaking story. I love how much Alexander develops as a character, how he finally allows himself love, and healing, and a chance to finally be happy.
