They go through equal parts pain, violence and blood to make it through to the other side. Revelations are dropped, new people come into their lives, and the love between Lev and Kat is tried and tested and only strengthened as each obstacle is overcome. Ashleigh Zavarelli wrote one of my favorite dark series, The Boston Underworld series a few years ago. It features a mix of Irish and Russian mobsters and has stood the test of time and remains head and tails above anything else I've ever read in the dark romance genre.
