Review of Jock Rule (Jock Hard Book 2) by Sara Ney

Kip is a big, bearded brute of a man who has sworn off women and dating for a long time. But when he sees sweet, innocent looking Teddy at a party, something about her gets under his skin. So he takes it upon himself to appoint himself her own personal dating guru, whether she wants him to be or not. When Kip first walks up to Teddy at a party, he's so unbelievably rude to her that she's not sure what to even say to him. Then somehow, over the course of a couple more parties, the two form a tentative uh something. Friendship I guess you could call it. He's still attached to her side at every party, trying to give her very unhelpful advice about guys, but she's seeing him in a different light. Sure, he's still big and hairy and straightforward, but he's not really rude like she had first thought. Or perhaps he's just rubbing off on her or something. Or perhaps she's just developing decidedly unwanted feelings for him. Perhaps he's developing those same feelings for her?

I absolutely loved Jock Rule!! It's so snarky and witty the way their friendship is formed and the way they banter back and forth. And their inner (and outer) thoughts are hilarious. But, it's sweet at the same time. Kip, though he looks like a hairier version of Brock O'Hurn, is an absolute sweetheart underneath all his hair and his mouthy outer layer. I loved his texts with his older sister, Ronnie, and the way it was so obvious he was falling for Teddy, albeit unwillingly. And Teddy was adorable, absolutely adorable. Sweet, smart and without a clue in the world that the big lug was falling for her.

I have a love/hate relationship with New Adult fiction, as it can be too angsty and shallow a lot of the time. But, Sara Ney nails it here in Jock Rule. It's got lots of heart more than anything. It's steamy when the two finally get together, and the relationship and character development is top notch, which is a shock considering its shorter length. I haven't read the first book in this series, (Jock Row), but after reading and loving Jock Rule I am going to dive in and enjoy myself!
