Emerson Dawson hates her life - more specifically - her marriage. Her husband, David, believes she’s the reason for his bad fortune. Because of her guilt, she accepts a punishment for his destructiveness, but gains an experience she never knew she needed - Babysitting a million-dollar car, along with the one-and-only mechanic who can fix it; Donovan Bradley.

Donovan’s not what she expects. Beneath his rough exterior and bad boy ways, she finds a kind hearted man, full of compassion and passion, and a protectiveness she’s never felt. But above all, he’s sparked a fire within her that’s only begun to ignite.

Will their love survive the ride or will fate cause them to crash and burn?

“You’re right.” These are not my kind of people. I won't fit in their world. I'm here to make sure they do their job and to get home to my husband. I add to prove my point, “I also would like to get some sleep. Do you think you can tell your friends to turn down the music? Or maybe stop the pounding?”

He smirks, shaking his head. “Nope, I’ve got work to do, Mrs. Dawson. And I work to music.”

His body moves close to mine, making my heart rate pick up a few beats, his hand reaches up to my face and my heart stops all together. He swipes a rough finger across the tip of my nose.

“You got something on your face.” Heat creeps up my cheeks, as I realize what I must look like. I forgot to remove my face cream.

He laughs, wipes his finger on my silk covered shoulder, turns to open the door. “When you pull the stick out of your ass, you can hang out with us.” He winks, closing the door behind him.

Fuming, I pound to the door and lock it behind him.

I live in a small town in Pennsylvania with my husband, two amazing daughters and two dogs, an unlikely pair: a black Lab and Maltese. I spend my time writing, editing, reading and graphic designing. Visit me at www.trishamadley.com

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
