Review: Sloth (The Elite Seven Book 6) by Giana Darling

Review of Sloth (The Elite Seven Book 6) by Giana Darling

SLOTH

Rush Dempsey comes across as lazy, hence the nickname Sloth, uncaring and sinful. He's one of those things to be sure. The other 2, not so much. He disguises his deep need for answers about his mother's death by looking like a rich sinner who wants for, and cares for, nothing. But then he sees a timid church mouse, Isabella, and he's instantly entranced. He wants her and he will have her, innocent soul and all. He wants to corrupt her. He wants to keep his father from having her. But mostly, he just wants her.

"She was holding rosary beads the way I imagined her holding my cock, firm grip, but fingers reverent and deliberate."

But he's got other things going on his life, like trying to infiltrate The Elite Seven, find the answers about his mother, and then, to take the Elite down for what they've done - to his brothers, to him, to his woman. Will he and the rest of his brothers succeed at the mission?

I was rooting for them the whole time. Rooting for Sloth and his brothers, and for Rush and Isabella. This one is probably the most "romantic" of the series so far, and Sloth truly surprised me in how hard he fell for timid (not so much) little Isabella, and how much he showed that.

But I said it before, and I'll say it again - I'm not reading this series for the romance. The main thing I've been interested in is the whole secret society, the mystery behind it all, and this story furthered all that. The ending especially, gave me great hope that things are finally falling into place, that when Greed comes next, it will truly give the resolution this series has been heading toward. But...although I'm not reading this series for the romance, I did truly appreciate the relationship, the love, between Rush and Isabella. I like how she was the light to his dark, how he was her sin, and how well they complemented each other.

"It's you that'll bring the silk and sunshine," I said as I flicked my tongue over the seam of her lips. "I'll bring the heat."

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
