Review / Release Blitz: Guarded (Everyday Heroes World) by Rachel Leigh

Rachel Leigh's Guarded is an emotional, military contemporary romance set in K. Bromberg's Everyday Heroes World!

Forbidden fruit tastes so much sweeter

When I left this town, I left behind a piece of my heart. I did it for us. Enlisted in the army, served overseas--it was all for a better life. A life she deserved. A farmhouse with a white picket fence, a dog, kids--the American Dream. Going home to her has always been the plan. I just didn't anticipate any other reasons for escaping this sandpit.

Now I'm back. Burying our dreams. A shattered heart and no mending in sight. Guarded like a shield to protect from a pain I never knew existed. I didn't think I could possibly move on, let alone with someone else. And, never with her sister.

MY REVIEW
The very last person Nash expected, or wanted, to see after his wife's passing, is her sister. The sister who didn't come to his wife's funeral, nor to their wedding. He knows she's only there because she wants something, what is it? And when will she take herself away from him so he can go back to wallowing in peace?

But what if Rowan's there because she had a guiding hand, perhaps they both have a guiding hand, and perhaps they'll soon find common ground - emotionally and physically.

I first have to say that I tend to dread reading stories where the hero or heroine is a widow/widower, because so often the new love interest comes in a very distant second place to the spouse that has passed on. Luckily that was not the case here, and Nash and Rowan were able to find love (again) with each other. Their story is a bit heartbreaking, it's steamy, and a I fell in love with it, with them.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
