MY REVIEW

Fee (Ophelia) has had a crush on Kody for a long time. She thought it was actually going somewhere but the night he was shot, he let her know in no uncertain terms that it hadn't been going anywhere, that he pitied her. Yeah... Now she's just trying to move beyond that horrible night when he shattered her heart, when someone sets their sights on her and she becomes in need of protection. Kody knows he has to be the one to protect her, even though he had made it clear to her that he couldn't give her what she was looking for. His grief over his wife has kept his heart on ice and was adamant that no one, not even the sweetest soul, Fee, would ever have that heart again. Will Fee get the forever she's looking for? Or is Kody far too damaged from losing his wife to give her his frozen heart?

I haven't read the first story in this series, but I will definitely be catching up on the Cedar Lake world, because I loved Always With Me! It's suspenseful, a little angsty with Kody's back and forth, and the chemistry between them once they got together is hot. I loved Fee with her gentle nature, she was the perfect foil for Kody's stoic broodiness. I despaired that the two would ever get on the same page, but really enjoyed how Fee helped heal his broken heart.

Sadie Allen is the author of four novels and has several more trapped inside her head. Her dreams of becoming an author started in fourth grade when she wrote a story about a disastrous Thanksgiving where a cat jumped inside the turkey.

She currently lives in Texas with her husband and three small children but is still hopeful her Hogwarts acceptance letter will be in the mail but will settle for Camp Half-Blood. When she's not pretending to write, she's chasing children around the house or store or ballfield, or helping her husband do something on the farm.
