As the fixer for Blackbridge Security, Quinten Lake is the man that comes in and cleans up after people make stupid decisions.
Which means he didn’t want to be the one teaching lustful women gun safety.
There were guys on the team better suited for the task.
Get in and get out, that’s his motto, something he lives by not only at work but also in his personal life.
And he could be doing just that if it weren’t for the internet.
But if #BlackbridgeSpecial wasn’t trending online he would’ve never met Hayden Prescott.
He wouldn’t be wondering why she won’t make eye contact with him.
He’s supposed to teach her the skills to protect herself, but his ego is encouraging him to be her means of protection.
She isn’t impressed, and he’s left wondering if she’ll ever open her eyes and finally see him.

MY REVIEW
Quinten's Blackbridge Security's fixer. So why is his boss tasking him with teaching a self defense/weapons class to women Wren has pinpointed through research and bot data collection? There are more than a few guys at Blackbridge who could/should teach this class, not him. But when a gorgeous woman walks into the class with her friend, he just might start thanking Deacon rather than glaring at him.
Hayden's been having nightmares and is feeling unsafe in her home ever since there was a break-in. The cops haven't done anything to solve the case, and she can't figure out a way to get her norm back. When her friend Parker convinces her to attend a self defense class, she's not anywhere near thrilled with the idea. She has no desire to learn how to handle and/or shoot a gun. But what Parker wants, Parker gets, so she's here. Too bad the instructor is a big grumpster who can't seem to manage a smile. He's not her type at all no matter that Parker's gushing over him and how big his hands are and how well he fills out his jeans. So why's her stomach filled with butterflies whenever he looks at her? She has no idea that big grumpster is the man who will change her life, who will protect her, save her, and give her her security back when she needs him the most, even if it means she has to move in with him until the situation is resolved. Quinten's never felt anything like he does for Hayden. Suddenly he's feeling growly and possessive over her, and wants her for longer than a night. When he moves her in as part of protecting her, his feelings come to a head, and he's not sure what to do. All he knows for sure is that she's it for him. Does she feel the same? He damn well hopes so... I've been loving the men and women of Blackbridge Security. Each couple's story is a seamless blend of action and romance as they fall in love and battle the forces out to bring them down. Quinten and Hayden are so good together - each is filled with doubts, but their connection and chemistry can't be denied. They're a sweet and sexy pair of opposites - the big, grumpy teddy bear and the tiny, pocket sized woman who tilts his world upside down and inside out.
Meet Marie James
Let's see...where to begin...I'm inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.
I have an amazing husband (Married just over 15 years.)
We have two boys we're doing our best to raise as respectful gentleman.
I have a master's degree in criminal justice which I used to work as a juvenile probation office until deciding to write full-time in June of 2019. So that means there's usually always some criminal/law element to my novels.
If I'm not writing; I'm reading.
My favorite genres recently are bully/reverse harem and enemies to lovers. Maybe I'm reliving my traumatic teen years through the girls who actually end up with the boys. (Not that I would change my history since it's gotten me exactly where I need to be!)
I love coffee. I miss carbs. Music is LIFE. I try not to be too serious.
