BOOK BLURB

Rule #1: Don’t fall in love with your best friend.
Tally Kerr broke Rule #1 over a decade ago—a mistake that ended in the worst way possible.

Rule #2: Don’t date an artist.
Tally recently broke Rule #2, and the artist broke up with her. The consequence? She’s stuck curating a three-week exhibit for the jerk, and the only thing worse than dealing with him and his new girlfriend are the pity looks from the other artists.

So, she calls in a favor from her former best friend.

Sam Deschenes didn’t expect to see Tally again. And he knows he’s to blame. So when she says she’s coming to town and needs his help, Sam can’t say no—not even when she asks him to be her pretend boyfriend.

Tally wants nothing more than to forget Arizona, which is why this charade is critical. She’ll replace all her memories with fake ones and prove she never really loved Sam.

As the days tick by, remembering Arizona—and all the reasons she fell for her best friend—come too easily. When their scorching desire incinerates the line between real and fake, will Tally keep up the act or will she break rule number one all over again?

MY REVIEW
Tally's going back home, and she needs help from the only man she's ever loved, the one who never came back to her, her former best friend, Sam. Will he agree to be her fake boyfriend so she can save face in front of her most recent ex as he and the one he cheated on her with flaunt their new relationship?

Sam has a past he's never been able to tell Tally about. He should have told her all those years ago when they were kids, but he just couldn't. He had to balance hurting his dad with hurting her, and he apparently didn't manage that balance well, because she cut him out of his life and he hasn't seen her since. Now she needs his help. Of course he'll give her that help. He'll just have to make sure she doesn't walk back out of his life this time because he can't let her go, again.

God, this story tugged on my heartstrings more than once. Tally and Sam had so much between them, so much unsaid, so much that such young kids shouldn't have had to deal with, especially Sam. But their love was so strong that it had never died. I love the way they came back together and the way they realized how much they felt for each other.

On another note, please be forewarned there is an instance of racial slurs used (not by the main characters, but against one of them), it's pretty disheartening to read, and I absolutely hated that it was in there at all. It was entirely unnecessary, and the whole reason I gave this 4, rather than 5, stars. But aside from that negative, I loved everything else about this sweet second chance love story. It's beautifully emotional, Tally and Sam are both amazing, layered characters, and their chemistry is electric.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
