ABOUT THE BOOK
Ava Callaghan
A woman working in a male-dominated field.
Organized, strong, and tenacious.
That’s how she has to be to succeed.
Hunter Owens
A loner.
He needs no one, has no ties, and his future is an unanswered question mark.
It’s all he knows.
Until the day their lives intersect.
He sees the woman she hides from the world.
She nurtures the part of him he lost long ago.
But they both agree—their connection is temporary.
They are only for now.
Can their stubborn natures allow them to bend and accept that maybe, just maybe, there is more to life than they believed? That love can heal.
That happiness can exist.
That for now can be forever.

Ava's watched her brothers fall in love, but she's certain that is not in her future. Then she's practically run over by a hot silver fox and her life is turned upside down. That she's falling for a man who's adamant that he's only in town for a short while while renovating his grandfather's house, so is not to be depended upon for commitment or a relationship, is something she'll just have to be OK with. But will she really be able to watch Hunter, and his adorable dog, Cash, go, when the time comes for them to head out again?
Hunter has wandered the world his whole adult life, never putting down roots, never committing to anyone or anything. He knows how unlovable he is, knows he can only count on himself. He's never known love, and never will (or so he thinks). Then he practically runs down a spitfire he nicknames Little Dragon, and she sticks in his mind. He thinks a temporary arrangement while he's in town will be enough to satisfy him. But as days go by, and he falls further into her, starts to enmesh himself into her large, loving family, he's thinking perhaps things might be different for him this time. But is he really willing to give Ava and her family any part of his heart, when he's never been able to before?
I've loved this series, way back to its origins, to the second generation, and now the spinoffs, and each story, each couple, has been loving and lovable, and filled with strong emotions. But I have to say that none has gotten to my heart quite like Hunter and Ava, especially Hunter. I admit to shedding more than one tear as his backstory came out, and I wanted to give the big, strong loner a big hug even before I quite understood just how bad he had had it. Thank God Melanie gave him the absolute most perfect spitfire, because Ava is more than his equal - strong, tough, had more than her fair share pain, and was a package deal with a huge family who was not only accepting of, but very welcoming to, this new person in her life. I loved Hunter and his dog, loved Ava, and was so happy her family was there to love them all.
AUTHOR BIO
New York Times/USA Today bestselling author Melanie Moreland, lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of thirty-plus years and their rescue cat, Amber. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie loves stories, especially paired with a good wine, and enjoys skydiving (free falling over a fleck of dust) extreme snowboarding (falling down stairs) and piloting her own helicopter (tripping over her own feet.) She's learned happily ever afters, even bumpy ones, are all in how you tell the story.
