Review / Release Blitz: Shattered Dynasty by Ava Harrison

From USA Today best-selling author Ava Harrison comes an enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn romance with a twist.

Trent Aldridge is the devil.
Rich. Arrogant. Sinfully handsome.

He holds my inheritance in his hands.
Twenty-two million dollars I didn't even know about.

I met him at a funeral.
As one life ended, mine unraveled.
Because he has one goal—to ruin me.
And Trent Aldridge never loses.

My present is gone and my future is in ashes.
All because of a past that's not even mine.
Control. Power.
He has it all now that I'm his maid.

He's rude, sarcastic, and well...the hottest man I've ever met.
Lust is a dangerous game to play.
Where there's smoke, there's fire.
And I’m about to be consumed.

MY REVIEW
Payton is only 21, but life has done so many terrible things to her. Then her older sister's boyfriend dies, and life decides to throw another her way, only this one is even worse, and it's in the form of a cold, bitter man dead set on taking out his anger on her. No matter that she didn't do anything to deserve his anger, but Trent isn't exactly in the most clear-thinking frame of mind when his father dies and leaves his estate to Payton, some girl who happens to be the sister of the woman his dad was cheating on his mom with. Yep...

Trent has never forgiven his father for what he did to his sister, Ivy (Corrupt Kingdom). He's allowed his anger and bitterness at him to color his every thought, to taint his behavior. So much so that when his father has the nerve to leave his estate to some girl, but makes Trent the one in control of distributing the money, he decides to wreak his anger on poor Payton, even though she had nothing to do with the horrible man his father was. Will Trent allow Payton's ability to see past his anger and to the real him, get to him? Will he allow her into his heart?

Damn, Trent was, as Payton called him, a real douche canoe, for about 3/4 of Shattered Dynasty. But Payton was a champ. She was smart and tough, and fought back. She didn't take his shit lying down, knew she was more worthy of good in life than what had been thrown at her so far. She was my favorite part of her story. Her chemistry with Trent was hot, the story was entertaining, and I always love it when an alphahole is brought to his knees and knocked onto his ass, by love.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
