This is an angsty, hot friends to lovers holiday story. I loved Micah and how determined he was to show his best friend how much he loved her. Unfortunately, Mila got on my last nerve with her over the top drama queen act, and her refusal to accept Micah's feelings. She was the only bad part of this story, but she definitely lessened my enjoyment of what otherwise would have been a 4 star read.

Penny's come to say goodbye. Goodbye to her former relationship with her ex fiancé, who let her go a year ago. Goodbye to the future they almost had. Goodbye to the cabin where she's going to spend her holidays moping. Then she's going to snap out of it and go live her dream, the one she was supposed to live with Jackson. Only, she gets the surprise of her life when her ex shows up at their cabin, determined to get her to give him a second chance. Should she spend her holidays with Jackson, listening to him try to explain why he left her behind to go become a rockstar? Or kick him to the curb and spend her holidays remembering what could have been?
Second chances are only good if the person who broke the other person's heart redeems him or herself. Well, in this case, though it took awhile, I finally saw Jackson redeem himself. At first I wanted to smack him for breaking for Penny's heart. Her backstory made me sniffle more than once, and I wanted to give her a big hug, but Jackson at least realized his boneheaded behavior was the reason they were no longer together, and actively worked to fix the mess he had made. I love second chances, and when combined with the the spirit of the holidays? Even better. Penny and Jackson are a great couple who so deserved this sweet, heartfelt second chance.
