JD Hawkins has a type.

Smart, sexy women that talk back and know exactly what they want:

A forbidden workplace romance.

A frenemies-with-benefits situation with their best friend’s brother.

A fake-fiance vacation fling.

Most of all, they want the kind of men they shouldn’t.

The kind their mothers warned them about.

They say boys will be boys, but these girls are going to put them in their place.

Three naughty standalone books from the internet’s favorite reformed bad boy author: Playing Doctor, Bad Boy Benefits, and BS Boyfriend.

MY PLAYING DOCTOR REVIEW

Hardworking doctor, Mia's not prepared for the new doctor at her hospital. Not prepared for the way her body reacts to him. She's always been about the work, about her people at the hospital when Colin swaggers in to start his new job. He's the same - about the work, but a bit of a ladies' man vibe. Are the two seeming opposites actually perfect for each other?

I have missed JD's writing, but Playing Doctor was well worth the wait. It's entertaining, sexy, and fun. Though Colin is a cocky charmer, he's a sweetheart in the best sense of the word. Mia may seem to be his opposite, but she's just as hardworking, if not more so, has just as big a heart, and the two of them are perfect for each other. Welcome back JD, can't wait for whatever you bring us next!

MY BAD BOY BENEFITS REVIEW

A one time hookup never to be repeated again has Toby and Maeve in denial of their real feelings for each other. But 6 years later and that attraction and those feelings are still there. Will they give in again? Or is the player with a romantic's heart doomed to never getting inside his true love's heart?

Bad Boy Benefits is not what I was expecting. Well, not completely. It is fun and lighthearted with witty banter, all of which I expected, but it also has a couple whose connection I couldn't quite feel. I felt their physical connection, as it was obvious they were attracted to each other, but their emotional connection was a bit lacking for me. Perhaps because Maeve was pretty cold, and unfortunately, felt too shallow to feel strong feelings. Even near the very end she was denying she had strong feelings for poor Toby, and it added to my disconnect with this couple, and added to my dislike of her. So, though it has JD's signature witty banter and sexy hero, the heroine grated on my last nerve, and I couldn't get behind them as a lasting couple. That's why the 4 rather than 5 stars.

MY BS BOYFRIEND REVIEW

Hazel's feeling a bit adrift while on her vacation. She's not used to having nothing to do, no one to take care of. So when a gorgeous guy begs her to play along as his fiancée, she's more than up for it. But as they play along, she's starting to develop feelings that aren't at all fake. But they'll have to stay unannounced because Nate was burned and isn't up for a real relationship, and their uh, thing, has an expiration date.

Hazel and Nate are so good together, helping bring out the best in each other. Their chemistry is HOT and though they were playing along for a short time, their feelings felt very real. I've read a lot of JD's hot alphas and sassy heroines, and these two were some of his best. Can't wait for more!

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
