Release Date: February 9
Have you ever fake dated your bodyguard? I don't recommend it.
Especially if he's anything like Erik Wilder: former football player, world class know-it-all and unapologetic grump.
To be clear, I didn't want a bodyguard (hence the fake dating idea). Most days, I can’t figure out why he wants the job either. We drive each other insane, probably because we’re as opposite as two people can be.
He’s suspicious, never talks about his past and has the comfort skills of a cactus. I’m a happily ever after kinda girl who knows exactly what she wants out of life.
Erik’s words might say that the lines have to stay firm between us, but those dark eyes of his? They tell another story when he looks at me.
He’s just as stubborn as I am, but when our fake dating plan starts to feel a lot more real, it's only a matter of time before his professional walls come crashing down.
I just have to hope my heart doesn't get buried in the rubble.

MY REVIEW
When Erik's offered a bodyguard position he's really not sure if he'll take it. He's a former football player, what does he know about bodyguarding? Except he does know, he knows how to intimidate, and he knows how to protect, which is what he'll be doing for his new client, a young social media influencer who's trying to find her footing since an accident left her reeling. Erik cannot say no to her father, a former football player himself, a man who knows what it's like to have left football behind and to be trying to figure out where to go next, where to find a place to belong.
Lydia may be the daughter of a football legacy marriage, but she's independent, not one to coast by on her family's coattails. But after an accident robs her of her normal zest for life, her dad, being the protective guy he is, takes it upon himself to hire her a bodyguard. A very grumpy, growly bodyguard whom she can't help but notice is also really, really hot. But, as she finds, Erik's not just a hot grumpypants, he's actually a teddy bear underneath his intimidating form. A guy she can't help but fall for as they start to fake date. But, the ever after Lydia dreams of may never come to be because Erik's got scars from a past he never talks about, and he's not about to let Lydia past a certain point, not about to admit to feelings that could put his heart in jeopardy again. He'll have to decide if he can live without his beautiful sunshine, though, or if he can let down his guard enough to reach for that happiness.
Grumpy/sunshine is always such fun to read as two opposites fall for each other. Here, it took awhile for me to warm up to Erik because his grump was pronounced and his communication skills were practically nil. I loved Lydia right from the beginning, though, and was rooting for her to get her man even though I knew it was going to take awhile to fight past all his demons. The Plan is slow burn packed with tension and more than a little emotion. Now I'm excited to read more of these Washington Wolves finding love.
Meet Karla Sorensen
Well, let’s see ... I’m a wife and a mother. If the things that I write bring a smile to someone's face, then I've done my job. I am obsessed with Outlander (both the books and the show). I’m almost exclusively a romance reader, which means some people will never consider me a literary snob. If I could meet one historical figure, it would be Jane Austen. I received my Bachelors in Public Relations and worked in health care marketing before I had my babies. I hate Twitter. I do it, but I hate it. Also, if you want to get on my good side, bring me wine and I'll love you forever.
