Maverick's about to start his last year of college before he enters the NHL. So of course he has to indulge in a last bit of fun before classes start. Who better with than the gorgeous woman he meets at the lake? Sounds good, and it is, until he walks into class and sees his um summer fun standing at the front of class...as his professor!! Can the attraction between them be contained until she's no longer his professor?
Clover cannot believe the beautiful night she had was with a guy who's now her student. She knows she can't cross the line with Maverick while she's his professor, but also knows it will be almost impossible to resist him. He's not like most college guys - he's so sweet and compassionate, always putting his loved ones before himself. He's not the typical irresponsible party animal that usually typify college students. So the tension between them is thick. What will happen, though, when she's no longer his professor? She knows he's about to enter the NHL, so any relationship will have to be temporary.
I love Clover and Maverick (Alex and Violet's son from Pucked)! Though I'm not usually into reverse age gap stories, this one is great, because Maverick isn't a punk kid and Clover's not a preachy older woman. Maverick's mental health is front and center in this story, and I love that about it. This isn't just a fluffy rom-com, there's depth, to both Maverick and Clover. Clover is really perfect for Maverick - she's his rock while he's trying to figure out the direction of his life, if he really wants to enter the NHL, or if he wants something different than just being in the shadow of his famous dad. And Maverick is perfect for Clover - he's not only her protective savior, but he's got a beautiful heart just waiting to find his soulmate. This series just got that much better with Clover and Maverick, now I'm anxiously waiting for the next couple to fall in love.
