Review / Release Blitz: Making the Match (River Rain #4) by Kristen Ashley

You don’t get to make decisions for me, Mr. Pierce.”
“You’re wrong, baby. I do.”

Making the Match, an all-new spicy, heartfelt and emotional second chance standalone romance in the River Rain Series from New York Times bestselling author Kristen Ashley, is available now!

If you love second chance, single parent romance, pining, a couple over 40, redemption and forgiveness, this is the book for you.

Decades ago, tennis superstar Tom Pierce and “It Girl” Mika Stowe met at a party.

Mika fell in love. Tom was already in love with his wife. As badly as Tom wanted Mika as a friend, Mika knew it would hurt too much to be attracted to this amazing man and never be able to have him.

They parted ways for what they thought would be forever, only to reconnect just once, when unspeakable tragedy darkens Mika’s life.

Years later, the impossible happens.

A time comes when they’re both unattached.

But now Tom has made a terrible mistake. A mistake so damaging to the ones he loves, he feels he’ll never be redeemed.

Mika has never forgotten how far and how fast she fell when she met him, but Tom’s transgression is holding her distant from reaching out.

There are matchmakers in their midst, however.

And when the plot has been unleashed to make that match, Tom and Mika are thrown into an international intrigue that pits them against a Goliath of the sports industry.

Now they face a massive battle at the same time they’re navigating friendship, attraction, love, family, grief, redemption, two very different lives lived on two opposite sides of a continent and a box full of kittens.

MY REVIEW

Mika's used to men (and women) disparaging her, but when a gorgeous Tom Pierce actually seems fascinated by her art and verbally shuts down one of his friends who's insulting her, she puts him on a pedestal he only gets toppled from many years later. Unfortunately for Mika, Tom is very much taken, so this would be couple isn't meant to be...at that moment at least. But what happens when many years go by and both are finally free to be together? But are they really? If a certain group of people have their way, then definitely yes, Tom and Mika will find a way to be together, finally.

This is a pretty epic journey this mature couple takes. They met while still young, then went on to live life with first loves, have children, suffer loss, both physical and emotional, and finally met again when mature enough to be together. There are certainly obstacles, though, but they overcome them with mostly grace, lots of love, and by leaning on each other. The only thing not really for me about their story is that it's a bit long and too wordy for my tastes, but other than that I really liked Mika and Tom's love story. It's sweet, loving, and Mika in particular, stood out as a big time star. I have my favorite characters in this world, and ones I really want stories about *hint hint* like Nora, Jamie and Hale!!

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
