Review / Release Blitz: Heart Break Her by Eva Simmons

Heart Break Her by Eva Simmons is now live!

"My heart might belong to Sebastian Kane, but so do a million others."

I know better than to get involved with celebrities. Especially a Rock God like Sebastian Kane. A man who knows how to make the ladies scream, as evidenced by the leak of his recent sex tape.

Which leads to my problem... I'm the girl in the video with him.

Grief will make you do crazy things. After all, I'm the smart girl, the good girl, not the rebel.

But now I'm face to face with the one man I was never supposed to see again. A man with a gorgeous dark smile and even darker secrets.

They say hindsight is 20/20.
And that's the problem with rock stars.
They make bad decisions so damn irresistible, right before they break your heart.

MY REVIEW

Sebastian's the ultimate rock god. But not really. Yes, he indulges in all the vices, and once he enjoyed them. But ever since a tragedy occurred he's realized he's hollow and numb inside. Then a beautiful woman with pink tipped hair captures his attention at one of his band's shows, and life is irrevocably changed.

When her friend drags her to a concert, Cassie has no idea how life is going to get out of control after. Spending the night with the lead singer should have been just one for her memories but when that beautiful night is leaked to the world, damage control has to be done. That means she's going to be in close proximity to the man. Secrets will come out, and their shared loss will either be the thing that brings them together, or forces them apart.

Sometimes rockstar romances can be over the top drama and excess. If there's no substance backing up all the drama and vices, then what the reader gets may be fun, but lacking in depth. Fortunately, Heart Break Her avoids this by giving us two strong characters with layers and layers to peel back. Sebastian is damaged, more than the usual tormented rockstar, and I just knew when it went bad between him and Cassie, it was going to be very bad, and it was. But with a skillful hand, the author wrote their story in way that wasn't so heavy that it was depressing, but was significantly emotional and a bit painful. This is a study in loss and healing. The rock god and his muse have sizzling chemistry, more than their fair share of baggage, and have to overcome huge obstacles on their way to their happy ever after. Definitely one of the best rockstar romances I've read in quite awhile.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
