Review / Release Blitz: Talk of The Town by Jennifer Bardsley

Talk of The Town by Jennifer Bardsley is now live!

In this lighthearted romance filled with small-town humor and high jinks, an unsuspecting real estate agent becomes the wildest dream come true for all the single moms—except the one he wants.

They're coworkers, friends, and confidants, but Peter Marshal has always pined for a little something more with Noelle Walters. As a widow and a single mom, Noelle prefers to play it safe, and falling for Peter was never part of the plan.

Then again, neither of their plans accounted for the well-meaning but meddling actions of Peter's sister, who offers him up as their town's most eligible bachelor in the local moms' Facebook group. He's none the wiser about the source of this sudden surge in attention, but he only has eyes for Noelle. And from where she's standing on the sidelines of Peter's popularity, it's getting harder to pretend that she doesn't see what everyone else sees in her best friend.

With all eyes on them, will Peter and Noelle finally see beyond the hurdles to the happily ever after that's been there all along?

MY REVIEW

When Peter suddenly starts getting way more attention than usual from the women in his small town, all it does is reinforce his unrequited feelings for his longtime friend, Noelle. Too bad she only sees him as a friend, and definitely isn't ready to start dating again.

This is a very sweet, slow burn story. It's low steam (kissing only), but their connection is strong. I like how Noelle slowly grew a backbone, and realized how her feelings for Peter had evolved. The social media posts at the beginning of the chapters are a clever way of tying into the thing that brings this small town together. So why 3 stars and not 4? I wanted something a bit more to happen, a bit more edge, more steam, and a character growth arc for Peter. Noelle did all the growth here, and Peter stayed the same sweet guy throughout. The last thing preventing this from a higher rating is Noelle's ridiculous family. They're almost a caricature of an awful family, and the fact that she didn't stand up to them until the end was disappointing. Still, this is well written with two likable characters, so 3 stars is fair.

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...

You TV series

Wow, hubby and I watched You on Lifetime last night. It was creepy and suspenseful. Hubby likened it to Dexter , and I have to agree. Penn Badgley was on point - creepy, stalkery, but fascinating. I didn't think too much of Elizabeth Lail's acting, but I'm not sure if it was just that her character was bland, or if it was truly bad acting. Can't wait for next week!
