Review / Release Blitz: Power Play (The Calway Family #1) by T.D. Colbert

Power Play by T.D. Colbert is now live!

Lo

He’s my brother’s best friend. He was my first real crush. He’s the NHL MVP and local sweetheart.

And he’s back in town.

I won’t lie and say that I’m not happy to see Levi Buck back around Crooked Creek. Despite the frenzy that follows him around town, it’s good to see his face. The gentle, painfully sexy man I once knew.

I was just a teen when he left, and he took a part of me—and my biggest secret—with him.

But now he’s back, and so is the reminder of the night that changed everything.

I lied to him once, and when he realizes that what he saw was real, he’ll stop at nothing to bring me justice.

But justice comes at a price.

A price I’m not willing to pay.

Levi

I replay that night in my head over and over again. Not even playing in the NHL could erase the guilt I felt. I couldn’t stay in town and relive it. So when I got drafted to play across the country, I ran as fast as I could.

But I left Lo behind.

When I took off, she was still a teenager. But now, with my professional career coming to an end, I’m back in town. And Lo is all grown up. From the looks of her life, she grew up faster than she should have had to.

And I’m the only one who knows why.

When I realize what I always suspected to be true all those years before, I lose my mind. I see red. I’m willing to risk it all. I’m ready to kill for it.

But revenge might cost her everything.

And it might cost me the one thing I suddenly can’t live without: her.

MY REVIEW

Levi's come home to recuperate from what is most likely a career ending injury. He knew his best friend's little sister would be here, and should have expected the feelings to come surging back, but he didn't. Now he's face to face with the girl he left behind who's now a beautiful grown woman, and he's realizing he wants everything with her.

Since that night, Lo has moved on and is parenting a beautiful little girl with 100% support from her family and friends. She's keeping a secret from that night and now her brother's best friend is back and he seems intent on not only being in her life, but getting to the bottom of the question of what happened that fateful night. Can Lo let Levi into her life, into her heart?

What an emotional story! I felt so for Lo, wanted to give her a big hug, but also so many props for how strong she was, how she had survived and thrived and had raised her adorable daughter. Levi is such a wonderful hero - ends up being Lo's rock all while working through his own issues. I can't wait for more Calway Family now.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
