When Miles Cavanaugh, the best safety in the league, was traded to the Chicago Grizzlies football team last year, I could finally breathe. Temptation was miles away.

I thought straight-laced Miles Cavanaugh followed all the rules… oh how wrong I was.

Bryce and Miles have a contentious relationship to say the least. She's the journalist who writes critical pieces on his football performances. He's the athlete who's never been the superstar, but is looking to make his breakout on his new team. He can't do that if his enemy is on staff, writing more critical stuff about him. And they definitely can't give into the attraction that's not really masked by their contempt. There are no fraternization rules, and she can't objectively write about someone she's having a thing with, can she?
It's decidedly not of the norm for a romance to feature an athlete who's not a womanizing, cocky playboy, but that's exactly what Piper Rayne has done here, and I seriously cannot get enough of this take on a football romance. Miles is such a wonderful hero, he's kind, he's a little vulnerable and slightly insecure and amazingly charming and delicious. Bryce is kind of his opposite, but equally awesome with her bold, sassy personality, who's fighting the demons she bears thanks to her father's awful behavior while she was growing up. I hurt for them both, especially Bryce, but applauded them that they could figure themselves out and fight for their happiness. Like all the football (and otherwise) worlds of Piper Rayne, the Chicago Grizzlies is going to be another sexy, fun series and Miles and Bryce certainly start the whole thing off with a hate to love bang!
