MY REVIEW

Sig's life and heart have been frozen since his wife died. Then his in-laws come to him with a proposal, one that will change his life. It's up to him to decide if it will be for the better or if he'll continue to keep himself apart from everyone to continue grieving his first love.


Abby didn't hesitate when her parents' friends told her what they were thinking. Now she's across the pond agreeing to be a surrogate to give birth to their grandchild. And she's falling in love with the baby's father. Sounds really complicated. And it is. And it isn't. Because it's simple - she has fallen for Sig and the ball's in his court. Admit he feels the same and they can have a beautiful life together. Or continue to grieve his wife and Abby give birth then go back to the States, heartbroken but happy knowing she gave birth to a baby who will have a life filled with love.


I'm not sure how Penelope's writing keeps getting better, but it does. This is hands down, my favorite story by her. It's heartfelt, beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. Sig has such a sad backstory and it makes sense that the woman to bring him back to the land of the living is a sweet ray of sunshine with a heart as big as his is frozen. Even though it's early on in 2024, I'm already declaring this my favorite book of the year, and definitely by Penelope.
