Miles Thatcher and I would not have gotten together if my life had gone according to plan.

Recently single with her whole life up in the air, Emma Abate knows that getting into any kind of relationship, is a bad idea. Especially when the man she finds herself drawn to is Miles Thatcher, a single father, and a man that seems determined to break down every barricade she places between them.

Could this be real?

Miles doesn’t do complicated. But it’s difficult to remember all the reasons why Emma is supposed to be off limits when she begins to fill a void in his and his daughters' life, a void that he never realized was there, until her.

Before this ends will Miles and Emma realize they have something worth fighting for? Or will his job as a detective, the murder of two young women, and Emma’s past get the best of them before they ever get the chance?

Life is never simple, and neither is love.

MY REVIEW

Emma finally ended her relationship with Eli, the man who didn't care enough to even fight for her or them, when a beautiful little girl and her bossy but loving dad barge their way into her life. At first she and Miles are really just friends, as she starts helping him out with Winter, but there's a spark, one she's not sure she's imagining or not. But when Miles definitively, in his dominant way, lets her know they're going to be exploring their connection, she knows she better brace herself...

Miles has only had one serious relationship, and it didn't end well. So he's not sure he can give Emma what he knows she wants and deserves, but he cannot get her out of his mind. Watching the way she is with his daughter is giving him feelings that he can't ignore any longer. When he hears something about Emma that ignites his possessive instincts, it's all over. Now he just has to make sure Emma's on the same page as he is. He'll have to be a little gentle, though, because Emma's skittish. And he wants to figure out why, and put her fears to rest so he can have it all with her.

Emma, Miles and Winter are the sweetest family. Emma softly stepped into Miles and Win's lives and they never let her go. Trips to the zoo, Emma cooking for them all, there was no way those two weren't going to fall for Emma. Emma's heart was bruised, though, so it took some gentle (and not so gentle at times - whew!) prodding before she could get past her fears. Thank God Miles was there with his bossy (naughty!) ways, and Win with her adorable little self, because if anyone ever deserved love and happiness it's this trio. Miles' brother Dayton presented a very intriguing charm, and there's a note saying he's going to get his own book, now I'm seriously impatient waiting for it.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

Title: The Challenge: A Single Dad Romance Author: Penelope Ward Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance Tropes: Single Dad, Second Chance, Forced Proximity Friends to Lovers, Small Town, Found Family Release Date: August 30, 2026 BLURB From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE contemporary romance… Nothing says welcome home like accidentally moving in with your first heartbreak…and his little girl. Coming back to my small Wyoming hometown was supposed to be temporary. I only planned to stay long enough to help my ailing mother and sort through the mess of my family’s old belongings. Instead, I somehow ended up living in Evan Ricci’s house. The single dad now owned a bunch of properties and one of them was the place I’d rented. He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
