Thanks to her jerk of a boss, Ainsley's come back to her small hometown to write a piece on the man she's been avoiding for years, the one who broke her heart - Lachlan, her brother's best friend. She's pretty sure he won't want to grant her an interview, but she's nothing if not determined. She'll get in, do the interview quickly, then be gone before he has the chance to break her heart again. Right?
Ainsley never knew how long Lachlan had decidedly unbrotherly feelings for her, but he knew when he broke her heart, she'd never give him a chance to explain, definitely not a chance to have her heart. But now she's back in their hometown, all those old feelings are rearing their head. Is it possible the chance they lost is on the horizon now?
Brother's best friend is always one of my favorite tropes, and when combined with mutual pining, a broken heart(s), and a swoony single dad who's a firefighter - how could you go wrong? Ainsley and Lachlan's banter is hilarious, snarky, witty, and doesn't do much to disguise their amazing chemistry. I have to admit I never knew just how awesome former top tier athletes turned Ultimate Frisbee leaguers could be, but Lachlan and his friends made it look good. This is a sweet start to what looks to be a great new series.
