Love and romance aren't for me. When I was young and naïve I dreamed of them, just like everyone else I suppose. Then I fell in love, only to end up hurt. I fell in love again, only to get hurt again. Eventually, I learned my lesson. Love, romantic love at least, isn't usually real, and when it is, it never lasts. Every time I’ve fallen it’s been fast and hard, and every time I’ve ended up patching the broken, tattered pieces of my body and soul back together on my own. Love and I just aren’t compatible.
So why can't I stop watching the beautiful auburn-haired man that's recently become a regular at the coffee shop? I know what the result of indulging this hormone induced fascination will be. I’ll end up hurt, and alone, and wondering yet again how something that once seemed so good could have gone so desperately wrong.

There is also just the tiniest bit of unexplained magic that is deliberately open to reader interpretation.

MY REVIEW
Blue's sworn off love. Ethan believes he's broken and doesn't feel the way others do. Then they meet each other, and spark up a friendship. Now they're spending all this time together, healing, coming to realizations, and wondering if this friendship will become more.
I've never read this author before, and I've been missing out, because their prose is quite simply, beautiful. I felt like I was reading a gorgeous poem, one that didn't bore me or feel pretentious like most poetry does to me. Blue has been so hurt in his past relationships that he no longer believes in love. Ethan suffered so much loss and didn't realize he's demi. It wouldn't seem like this pair would make the beautiful couple they end up as. I love the found family, the demi rep, and most of all, the way grief is handled. Blue is an absolute rock during this time, and Ethan was given the space to process. I sighed and swooned my way through this story, and will definitely be coming back for more from this author.
