Everleigh
One night changed my whole life.
After the truth about that night came out, I left, taking my broken heart with me.
I knew the past was waiting to slice me open again.
But I was left with no choice but to go back.
Feelings and old emotions are like dandelions; no matter how many times you pull them out or try to get rid of them, they refuse to go away.
And he was that for me.
My everything until he was my nothing.
Brock
My father taught me about honor and integrity.
And in one split second, I ruined it all.
I lost the only dream I ever had and everything I ever wanted.
But I had no choice.
I tried to move on with my life.
I put all my focus on my daughter, never expecting to see the one woman I’d loved and lost.
They say time heals old wounds.
They were wrong.
Scars left from the past are easy to reopen.
I just hope I can survive the pain all over again.

MY REVIEW
Everleigh's come back to her hometown to help her mother recuperate after her heart attack. She really doesn't want to come face to face with her first (only) love, Brock, but it's inevitable that she'll see him and remember how much he broke her heart. She may have been the one to leave, but it was only because he did something that drove her away. Seeing him again is making the pain come up again, and stirs her antagonism toward him. But it also stirs something else - that sizzling chemistry that's apparently alive and well. Is this the start of a second chance, or just them working through their feelings of anger?
Brock doesn't want to admit it, but he's never, ever stopped loving Everleigh. When she left town, she took his heart with her and since then he's just been existing in a fog of grumpy brooding, the only light his adorable daughter Saige. He thought when Everleigh came home to help her mom, that he'd be able to ignore her until she left again. But he underestimated (lied to himself) how much he still loves her and how much she still affects him. Now he can see more light in his solitary life, and he wants to reach out and grab it. If he can convince Everleigh they're still meant to be, if he can explain to her what happened back then, that future they used to dream of, can be theirs.
Everleigh and Brock's contentious second chance was intense, filled with all the antagonism that exes usually have, a healthy dose of lust, and finally, lots of love. There was so much pain and anger between them though, that I despaired they'd ever work through their issues and admit they still loved each other. It took a little too long for my tastes, but they finally got on the same page and ended on a sweet note. This series has been an entertaining one, and I'm very impatient to read Emmett's story next, Stolen Dreams.

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
