MY REVIEW


Allie's new life is a far cry from her New York life. She's now guardian to her grieving nephew, Ollie, and working at Langston as the head of housekeeping. She doesn't have the time, or inclination, for a relationship, but somehow one might be happening. If Caden can ever get out of his own head and realize what they could have together.


Since Caden left the Army, he's not one to put down roots. He still suffers survivor's guilt, and can't even be around his own family without feeling disconnected. He knows his time at Langston Winward is about done, but he's having trouble actually leaving. Why? There's this beautiful woman and her nephew he can't help but be drawn to. And when it looks like he might lose her for real, he'll need to decide if he can continue living with the weight of guilt and be without Allie and Ollie in his life.


I thought Ro and Tessa (Night and Day) were awesome, and they are, but Allie and Caden have an edge over them. The edge is Allie's sweet nephew, Ollie. Caden with Ollie made my heart (and Allie's) melt, softened some of his edges, and had me smiling, even as I hurt for him and Allie as they missed her brother and Ollie's mom so much. Caden was perfectly nicknamed Broody, but behind that broody, was a guy just waiting for someone(s) to come along and help him realize he deserved the love and happiness he saw his friend Ro find with Tessa. The suspense and mystery blends perfectly with Allie and Caden's push and pull relationship, the chemistry is sizzling, and when they finally get on the same page, I was cheering them on. The Langston series is shaping up to be just as amazing as Anna's other romantic suspense series - with alpha protective men and the women who bring them to their knees. I can't wait for the next couple at Langston to fall in love now.
