Review / Release Blitz: Burn Bright (Cobalt Empire #1) by Krista & Becca Ritchie

Burn Bright by Krista & Becca Ritchie is now live!

He's a rich jock with a larger-than-life family. She's a punk-rock nerd with a troubled past.

Ben Cobalt is number six. Not sixth place—in fact, he’d be considered at least third draft pick for the NHL if he didn’t quit hockey during college. And he’s not sixth-in-line for any throne. Though, most consider his larger-than-life, billionaire family American royalty.

He is the sixth-born Cobalt.

Out of a normal family of seven, he might get lost in the shuffle. But being the black sheep of the Cobalt Empire comes with its own intense spotlight. After he hits a major low at college in Philly, his four older brothers convince him to move in with them in New York City. Transferring to Manhattan Valley University—piece of cake.

Living in an apartment with all of his brothers while harboring a giant secret among a family who’s more tight-knit than a secret society—total effing chaos.

He has to find a way out of the tense living arrangement, especially as he clashes with his oldest brother Charlie. Ben turns to an unlikely source for help. A grumpy, punk-rock girl with a troubled past who's already pissed off one Cobalt brother.

So when an undeniable attraction ignites, Harriet Fisher is expecting the flames to die out. Except…what happens when they don’t? Falling for a Cobalt brother with secrets might be a Shakespearean tragedy she can't rewind.

BURN BRIGHT is the first book in the Cobalt Empire series, a new adult romance series about legacy, loyalty, and love.

MY REVIEW

Harriet is already in the know about the Cobalts. She has a tense history with one of the brothers when a much nicer brother, Ben, rescues her at a party. Who knew a Cobalt could be so nice? He's so kind that Harriet lets him past her walls and into her soul and they develop a friendship that becomes a whole lot more than friends, even though they call each other Friend.

Ben's never quite felt he fit in with his famous family. He's got so much going on in his head that he doesn't tell anyone, especially the brothers he's temporarily rooming with. Being with Harriet gives him more peace and happiness than he's ever felt and he wants to keep it.

Ben is absolutely adorable. But he's not just adorable, he's got depths that no one until Harriet, knows. Harriet is equally adorable, but in a completely different way, anyone who likes Green Day has my thumbs up. These two are opposites attract gold so it makes perfect sense they found each other and fell so hard. I haven't read the original series with the Cobalt parents, so I went completely blind into Ben's story, and honestly, I think it might have been a mistake not to have read the og series. I felt sometimes like I should have known who everyone was - all his brothers and his apparently famous parents, but I didn't. They made quite an impression, some positive (Beckett), some not so positive (Charlie), but I could feel the love they all had, and it helped round out this story. But that aside, I really liked Burn Bright, it's a great intro for someone new to the Cobalts like I am, and it has me really excited to read the next brother's story.

Review: Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette (American Revolutionary Tales 2) by Regina Kammer

Review of Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette by Regina Kammer Captain Samuel Taylor and Lieutenant Patrick Hamilton recall their first steamy encounter, which was a MFM threesome in a brothel. It morphed into more and now the two are contemplating their futures with the women they love, and their futures with each other. If you think times are hard for the LGBT community now, think of how hard they were during the American Revolution. Winter Interlude is well developed, which is surprising given its short length. I am so interested in knowing what is to become of Samuel and Patrick's forbidden relationship. Do they stay together? Or do they go their separate ways, and live out their lives with their women? Now that they've admitted their love for each other, how impossible would it be for them to be without each other? I have to know, now! If you like MM fiction and/or historical fiction, I highly recommend you give Winter Interlude a read. It...
