Tierney needs to start over, what better place than small town Scotland? Here the people are friendly, most of them at least, the setting is beautiful, and she finally feels settled for the first time since her parents' passing. There's only one person who seems disturbed by her coming to settle in, one of her contractors, the reclusive, grumpy Ramsay McRae. He doesn't date, definitely doesn't do relationships. Luckily for them, she isn't on the lookout for dating or relationships either. But their chemistry, and a tiny little situation where they're hunkered down on a an island for a night leads to what's supposed to be a no-strings fling. No feelings allowed...
Ramsay hasn't let himself feel in a long time. His past is too dark, he did too many questionable things, for him to be good enough for a much younger, innocent beauty like Tierney Silver. He tells himself to stay away from her, but he keeps finding ways to be around her, even going as far as going out in the middle of a storm to find her. Getting stuck on the island during that storm finally lets them both let go. Now their little fling is starting to develop into more and Ramsay cannot allow it. He'll help her now that he knows what's put the pain in her eyes, then let her go, for her own safety. It's what's best for both of them...
When I heard Samantha was coming out with a new Scottish series, I was so excited! It's been too long since the last one, and I needed my hot Scot fix. Ramsay more than gave me that. Can't be much better than a hot, protective, grumpy Scot who falls in love very unwillingly. Tierney is the kind of heroine I love - strong, compassionate, fights for who and what she believes in. She and Ramsay are perfect for each other with their instant (although unwilling) emotional and physical connection, and make themselves into a beautiful found family along with Akiva the Husky, their friends Quinn, Taran and London, and the other residents of Half Light Harbor. Quinn's second chance is up next, and I'm impatiently waiting for it now.
