Review / Release Blitz: The Crush of Christmas Past by Nova Adams

The Crush of Christmas Past by Nova Adams is now live!

This Christmas, Isla Greene’s festive cheer is buried under six feet of snow.
Unemployed, evicted, and back in a hometown that no longer feels like home, the twenty-five-year-old faces a not-so-merry life reset.

The one bright spot in an otherwise bleak winter? Spending the holidays with her childhood friend and his loud, loving family. Their charming chaos provides the perfect distraction, but December isn’t done playing dirty.
An unwelcome chill sweeps into Sugarpine Springs, arriving just in time to crash her vacation.
Theo Thorne.
Her best friend’s older brother. Former mentor. The mistake she swore never to repeat.
For the last half-decade, Theo’s pointed boycott of eggnog and emotions has spared Isla from his grinchy glower. Now, they’re stuck under the same mistletoe-covered roof, flirting with tension thick enough to qualify as foreplay.
As the spirit of the season pulls strings for second chances, Isla must stay focused on her New Year’s goals: establish a freelance graphic design career, find an apartment, and—no matter what—keep Theo out of her heart.
Her crush of Christmas past has no place in her future.

MY REVIEW

After having been rejected soundly by him years ago, Isla has successfully been able to avoid Theo, her best friend's brother, when it all comes to a stop. Now she's on her way to disaster, thanks to her not being able to tell said best friend no when he asked her to be his fake girlfriend for the holidays. Unfortunately, Theo decides this is the year he's going to show up for their family holiday gathering. How the hell is she going to be able to contain everything - her rage, her humiliation, her pain, but most of all, her love...

Theo regretted hurting Isla all those years ago when he rejected her, but it had to be done, she was too young, and grieving her parents' passing, and he didn't want to take advantage of the girl he had come to love. But this year, something's different. When his brother brings Isla home to their family and says they're dating?!? Suddenly the restraint he'd held himself back with since, is gone. Now the time has come - he's going to make her his, even if he has to spend the rest of his life to do it. She may claim she wants a no-strings fling to get him out of her system, but Theo has drastically different plans for his Sunshine - he wants all the strings, and he's going to get them.

"I'm saying yes to the strings. I want them. All of them. I want to be tethered to you by every single string."

Sweet push and pull with more angst than I was expecting, and tons of chemistry - Isla and Theo's holiday romance was spicy, heartfelt, and definitely put me in the mood for Christmas. I wanted to give them both huge hugs - they had so much pain from their pasts, and at times I wondered if they would ever get their timing right because of that pain. Asher was a genius for concocting his little scheme - it brought his best friend and his brother together for good, and forced them to confront their real feelings for each other. If his story isn't next I have to admit I will be disappointed. I'm not sure if there will be a next, or if this is even a series, but I hope so because the Thornes are my kind of people.

Review: Waiting for You by Kate McBrien

Review of Waiting for You by Kate McBrien Justin and Lucy are apart, but for how long? Lucy's staying with her parents, but knows she needs to get out and start living her life again. But when she gets a chance to go to London, it just may be her chance to reunite with the man whose soul has been entwined with hers for centuries upon centuries. But first, our two fated lovers will have to not only reunite, but stay together, beat the odds and the people and/or forces who are trying to keep them apart. Waiting for You is a great followup to Discovering You. Justin and Lucy's story is exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection. I normally don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance anymore, but I loved it here in Waiting for You. It's subtle, but ever present and as I said, just makes their story all the more intriguing. I can't wait for the conclusio...
