Javier Valdez hasn’t had much luck with nannies, and he can’t imagine this one will be any different. Octavia Klein is all sass to his stoicism, free spirit to his hard work. But he’s a widower, and with a career in the NBA, he can’t keep doing this alone.

Despite Javier’s reservations, Octavia turns out to be the best thing for his four-year-old daughter…and for him. But he’s reluctant to admit it. Javier swore off love after his wife died, and Octavia has her own reasons for avoiding relationships.

As their bond deepens far past professionalism or even friendship, it’s hard to deny the crackling tension of something more. They’re both toeing lines they said they wouldn’t cross—and when their pasts come rushing back, there’s no telling which way they’ll fall.

With old wounds reopened, can Javier and Octavia overcome the pain once again? Or will their future together become just another scar?

MY REVIEW

Octavia (Davina's sister from Beautiful Broken Love) needs a job to help pay for their brother's expensive therapy, and unfortunately for her, that job ends up coming with a boss who can't stand her. But it doesn't matter because her charge, Aleesa, is the main reason she's so excited for this job. She adored her from their first meeting, and now she gets to spend her time nannying her. She can deal with a grumpy boss as long as she gets to continue to bond with his adorable little girl. She never imagined Javier would end up becoming so important to her.

The most important person in Javier's life is his daughter, Aleesa, and it makes him feel guilty he can't be with her all the time because of his career. It means he has to hire nannies to watch over her, but he hasn't been able to keep one yet. Then his best friend Deke's soon to be sister-in-law, Octavia, interviews for the job and he really doesn't want to hire her because she drives him nuts. Aleesa adores her and has already bonded with her, though. And soon, well, not really soon, Javier realizes he adores her too...

"No matter what comes my way, I will cherish all three of their sweet little hearts forever."

I loved Davina and Dekes so I knew I was going to love "Tava" and Javier, but I wasn't prepared for just how much I would fall for them. About 70% of why is because of Aleesa, for sure, because she's the sweetest, most precious little girl, but Octavia and Javier are so special too. Both hurting and fearful of being heartbroken again, but dealing with it in different ways. I love their slow burn to the realization of how they really felt for each other. And that once they realized it, they were rock solid. A grumpy single dad, a sassy but loving ray of sunshine nanny, and their little girl = a beautiful, heartfelt and heartwarming combination that made me tear up a few times but had me smiling huge at the end.

Review: Waiting for You by Kate McBrien

Review of Waiting for You by Kate McBrien Justin and Lucy are apart, but for how long? Lucy's staying with her parents, but knows she needs to get out and start living her life again. But when she gets a chance to go to London, it just may be her chance to reunite with the man whose soul has been entwined with hers for centuries upon centuries. But first, our two fated lovers will have to not only reunite, but stay together, beat the odds and the people and/or forces who are trying to keep them apart. Waiting for You is a great followup to Discovering You. Justin and Lucy's story is exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection. I normally don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance anymore, but I loved it here in Waiting for You. It's subtle, but ever present and as I said, just makes their story all the more intriguing. I can't wait for the conclusio...
