I've loved her since we were kids...
Violet Murphy was always meant to be mine. Forever my best friend, my partner, my wife. But nine years ago, in the deepest, darkest trenches of infertility, Violet said I needed to let her go.
We've now been divorced for more years than we were married. I still live in the house we renovated together. I still work the job I had before she left. I'm here in our hometown, still thinking about her every day. How things went wrong. How things could have been different.
She told me she'd never return to Silver Springs. That I needed to move on and build a family with someone else. It was never an option in my mind. It was never going to happen.
Now I'm standing outside her parents' place and she's just... there. Alone. A mirage of flaming red hair and sun-kissed freckles... and a rounded belly carrying a baby we both never thought she'd be able to have. That's not the only bombshell she's brought back to town with her.
Seems the love of my life has a dangerous admirer. It's my job as a Clarence County Sheriff's Deputy to protect and serve my community, but when it comes to Violet, I'd give up anything to keep her—and the baby she's carrying—safe.
Now that Violet's back, I'm determined to show her that the Silver Ridge Ranch is still her home, and my heart will always belong to her.

MY REVIEW
Colt's (ex) wife is back and he's never been happier, and sad at the same time, because Violet's pregnant, so she's obviously moved on. Or has she? He's always loved her, never stopped even when they divorced, so having her back home again means he's going to be there for her, even if it's painful for him.
Colt is the star of this second chance story. He's is the absolute gold standard of men - down bad for his soulmate, through their pregnancy journey, every time it failed, everything, then through their divorce and into their present. Violet was just so grief-ridden that even with her husband's steadfast love, she couldn't see her way through. So I was so glad when she came back and finally let him love her. This was painful to read at times, very painful, but the love they shared really was timeless, and I was so happy when they got their well deserved happiness at the end.
