5 beautiful, heartbreaking stars!!!
I've been dying for Mace and Lyla's story and now that I've read it, I can safely say it was well worth the wait. If you've been reading this series, you'll know that Lyla is Will's little sister, and that she crushed on Mason since she was a little girl following the guys around. But, when she's 17, she takes a chance and lets Mace in on her feelings, thinking he just might reciprocate those feelings. Of course, life isn't that easy and she's left crushed as Mace tells her he can't, she's too young, and that he's not good enough for her. Sigh...
My heart broke for her (and him) as the story wound on and put the two through the paces. She went and married a douche who treated her worse than gum underneath his shoe. He went and became a big time rockstar who boozed his way through life. Damn. And then, bam, that event that you'll already know if you've read the previous books, but if you haven't, I won't spoil. So now they're back in each other's orbits, and Mace isn't about to let his girl down. And he doesn't. And that's when I fell in love with him and his swoon worthy ways.
This is by far my favorite story in the Civil Corruption series and my favorite couple, by far. Jessica Prince's writing is so beautifully touching and the story she gives these two is one I won't soon forget.
