Review / Release Blitz: Ryder (Merrick Brothers #2) by Prescott Lane

Ryder by Prescott Lane is now live!
Country music headliner, crowd pleaser, legend in the bedroom.

You know how your mother always warned you that it only takes one time. Well, I'm proof of that.

One night with country music's hottest star, Ryder Merrick, and I got knocked up.

He promised me it wasn't just a one night stand.

But I woke up alone, and a few weeks later found out I was carrying his child.

I'm sure Ryder won't want anything to do with us. After all, he's famous for not believing in love. There's a reason he's never written a love song.

Why should he change his tune now? But telling him I'm pregnant still feels like the right thing to do.

All it takes is maxing out my credit card to buy a front row seat to his concert.

And then wait for him to notice me... and my bump.

MY REVIEW
A sweet girl, a passionate night, one Ryder cannot get out of his mind even after he walked out on Kailey without leaving a way to contact him. Thank God he's a famous country star, so she's able to finally catch his eye during one of his concerts. Except...she's not the same as she was during their night. Nope, there's bump that wasn't there before. Will this damaged man step up and be a father, or will he leave Kailey without a word again?

Rockstar (or country in this case) romances are one of my favorite tropes, and I feel as if Prescott did right by it here. Ryder is so damaged, such the broody archetype of the tortured musician, and it was a bit painful to read as his relationship with Kailey suffered for it. I can't believe how many chances she gave him, far more than I would have in her place, but she had such a big heart and wanted the father of her baby in their lives, so I can understand why she kept forgiving him his relationship blunders. And then when his complete backstory was revealed...ouch! Despite it being painful, though, I really enjoyed reading as Kailey and Ryder finally fell in love. I liked them so much together that I definitely plan on going back and reading the first story, and will be reading any upcoming ones too.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...

He’d taken it off the market and moved in before I got there. I just never got the memo. Unfortunately, there was no other place in town available, so Evan let me stay. Evan—the guy my parents took in years a...
