Review / Release Blitz: Callous Player (Westfall U #3) by R.C. Stephens

Callous Player by R.C. Stephens is now live!

Poppy

Hotshot playboy and devilishly handsome hockey winger, Declan McAvoy is a big man on campus and I'm just the nerdy little sister of his teammate... or I was until I let it slip I had never been kissed.

With the NHL draft hanging over his head and my brother at his side—both on and off the ice, I'm afraid I'll be stuck in the friend-zone forever. The way I feel about Declan and his stormy grey eyes is anything but friendly.

He has secrets to keep and I have a story to write...
If we cross the line, complicated doesn't even begin to cover it.

He might be known as a callous player, but he's one player I'm willing to gamble on.

Declan

This is my year to draft to the NHL, and nothing can stand in my way... especially not a complication like kissing my teammate's little sister.

Poppy is beautiful, brilliant—and off limits.

For the first time in my life, I've found someone worth the risk, but she deserves better than keeping secrets and sneaking around behind her brother's back.

On the ice I have it all figured out, but when it comes to her... I'm all out of plays.

The stakes are higher than ever... and my heart isn't the only thing on the line.

She has an article to finish, and I have a pro-career to focus on.

Falling for Poppy could mean game over for both of us, but that won't stop me from wanting to make her mine.

MY REVIEW

Declan has one goal - to get drafted into the NHL so he can not only play the game he loves, but more importantly, take care of his younger brother. Then Poppy happens to him. Poppy, the journalist assigned to write a story about him and his past, the girl who seems familiar, the girl who happens to be his teammate and friend, Ryse's little sister. Sigh...things really are spiraling out of control for poor Declan, who never opens up about his feelings, his past, or anything beyond his hockey ambitions. How can he keep his secrets to himself when Poppy is making him feel things, making him want to open up and be vulnerable?

These two! I just wanted to hug poor Declan, who was suffering so much, who held so much inside and felt so alone with no one he felt comfortable enough with to bare his soul to. Thank God for Poppy who torpedoed past all his defenses. I loved their slow burn, sweet story, and am really looking forward to more hockey and Westfall U love.

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
