MY REVIEW

Every time Kelly leaves to jet off to another far flung place in the world to take photos, she takes another piece of Brett's heart with her. But she always comes back, and he always welcomes her back into his arms when she does. Until the last time she goes and he can't anymore. He wants something she can't (won't) give him and he can't do it any longer. Then she comes back and she's broken, a shell of the vibrant woman she's always been before. Brett knows to avoid her for the sake of his heart, but it's that same heart that leads him to her again. He wants to know what happened and hope he's enough for her to stick around this time. Is he enough for her to stay? Or will she run again and leave him just as broken as she is?


This story was hard on the heartstrings. I could feel all of Brett's pain each time Kelly left, and even more so when she came back the final time and he couldn't believe the change in her. He was such a sweet guy, so loving, just wanting more from the woman who held his heart. Kelly was like this butterfly, flitting in and out of his life, bringing fun and leaving sadness, and honestly, I was pretty down on her for most of this story. Until her backstory came out, then I hurt for her. The way Brett was her rock was so sweet, even when it seemed as if she didn't deserve it, but by the end I was cheering them on, glad they found happiness and love together. I love this Reynolds Restorations world, can't wait for more!
