She had a secret.
One Beth had spent her whole life running from.

But her secret had finally caught up with her, and she didn’t know whether to start running again, to leave the life she’d built in Baltimore, one she was finally happy in, surrounded by the family she’d made (meaning her friends and their significant others, and definitely not her messed-up bio family), or to stay.

To fight.

Or maybe, better yet, to run straight into Raph’s arms.

The hockey player for the Breakers was big and strong and had a wonderful family (bio and otherwise). Not to mention, his smile lit up the room and his body was…chef’s kiss.

Bonus? He wanted her and made that clear, but…he didn’t know about the secret.

And she knew, she knew that if he found out…

He’d run.
Even faster than she had.

MY REVIEW

Beth is currently surrogating for her friends. And it's unfortunate that her pregnancy is causing the only guy she has feelings for to keep her at a distance. It's not that she blames him, she gets it, after all, his ex told him she was pregnant when she wasn't, and gave him hope, then took it all away when it was revealed that she was lying. So now the man's distrusting and not about to find himself in a relationship, especially with a pregnant woman.

Except Raph's willpower has apparently failed him because he's falling in deep with Beth. But they'll have to both work on their demons if they want to be together. She's got a big secret, one she holds close to the vest, and keeping it inside is going to be her undoing. She needs to deal with it, and be open with the one man she fears will leave her if he finds out that secret. Can she really open herself up to him?

A word of forewarning: bring a box or two of tissues before reading, because you'll need them while reading Beth and Ben's heartbreaking, emotional story. Beth especially has a tearjerker of a past, one she really hadn't dealt properly with. I hurt for her with every word when she revealed it. Raph's backstory is pretty emotional too, but Elise wrote the perfect partner for him in Beth. Their broken parts fit each other's perfectly, they helped each other heal, and they of course found love with each other. I can't wait for the next hockey player to be brought to his knees by love next.

Book boyfriends may not be real, but at least they won’t break my heart… or get another girl pregnant. I don’t do relationships. I get one whiff and run in the opposite direction. Review: Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette (American Revolutionary Tales 2) by Regina Kammer

Review of Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette by Regina Kammer Captain Samuel Taylor and Lieutenant Patrick Hamilton recall their first steamy encounter, which was a MFM threesome in a brothel. It morphed into more and now the two are contemplating their futures with the women they love, and their futures with each other. If you think times are hard for the LGBT community now, think of how hard they were during the American Revolution. Winter Interlude is well developed, which is surprising given its short length. I am so interested in knowing what is to become of Samuel and Patrick's forbidden relationship. Do they stay together? Or do they go their separate ways, and live out their lives with their women? Now that they've admitted their love for each other, how impossible would it be for them to be without each other? I have to know, now! If you like MM fiction and/or historical fiction, I highly recommend you give Winter Interlude a read. It...
