RELEASE DATE: FEBRUARY 28TH, 2023
A new male / male hockey romance from 24-time USA Today bestseller Sarina Bowen!
My name is Hudson Newgate, but my teammates call me New Guy.
That was my nickname in Chicago, too. And Vancouver. That’s what happens when you keep getting traded. Brooklyn is my last chance, especially after my poor performance last season.
But I can make this work. The new guy knows to keep his head down and shoot the puck. The new guy puts the game first.
What he doesn’t do is hook up with the other new guy—a hot athletic trainer who lives in my building. Gavin needs this job with my team. He’s a single dad with responsibilities.
We can’t be a couple. My arrogant agent–who’s also my father–will lose his mind if I’m dating a dude. And my team needs me to score goals, not whip up a media circus.
Too bad Gavin and I are terrible at resisting each other…

MY REVIEW
Gavin's a widowed single dad with a new a job, a daughter he adores, and some leftover grief from having lost his husband a few years earlier, when he meets a gorgeous guy at a bar and finds much, much more than he had been expecting. He can't be with Hudson in the open, though, for many reasons, so a secret relationship will have to do. And it works. Until it doesn't.
Hudson's been traded so many times that he can't shake the nickname "The New Guy." And he fits it well - he sort of keeps to himself, doesn't really make friends with most of his teammates, and is under his agent father's horrible thumb. He's also bi, something he's never told his father or the world at large. Then he meets a beautiful guy and can't seem to resist him even when he finds out Gavin works with the Brooklyn Bruisers, his own hockey team. Will he ever find the courage to let Gavin know how he really feels for him, before it's too late? Or will this new guy move on to a new team without ever having declared his love for the only man he's ever felt it for?
Not many female authors write LGBTQ romances as well as Sarina. I absolutely LOVE The New Guy. Hudson and Gavin's story is steamy af, but more importantly, their emotional connection is so heartfelt, so strong even though neither expressed how they felt openly. I could feel their yearning for each other. I could feel their love. And I could feel their pain. There's a wonderful secondary cast (Jordyn! Stoney!) that has me really impatient for the next Hockey Guy to find love when DiCosta's story is released, I'm Your Guy.
