BLURB
I was the last of my group of friends to find “the one.”
The guys would always tease me that I needed to hurry up and settle down.
But I was in no rush.
Until I met someone worth rushing for.
Alex was one of the weekend volunteers at Ryan’s House—a charity I founded to build housing near hospitals.
Little did I know she was the same person I’d been arguing with over email before the project started. At the time, I’d thought Alex was a dude.
In reality? She was a smoking hot blonde who captivated me from the moment we met in person.
Our chemistry was off the charts, and I fell hard pretty fast.
Unfortunately, Alex insisted I was too young for her. I hated that she felt that way. Because age was just a number.
Not only that, her words didn’t match the way she looked at me—like she was very interested.
I lived for the weekends we’d spend out of town volunteering. Alex and I side-by-side hammering during the day, while sharing intimate dinners together at the hotel at night.
Eventually, the walls she’d put up to protect her heart began to crumble.
Until fate threw us a doozy that I wasn’t sure we could come back from.
If I’d thought our age gap was the biggest hurdle, I didn’t know anything yet.
Rule number one for dating an older woman who insists you could never be together?
Don’t fall in love.

MY REVIEW

Brayden's foundation is the thing that means most to him, well, that and his friends. He's not fallen in love, but he'll know he's met the one when he does. How unusual that the one turns out to be the one who not only has driven him nuts regarding his foundation, but that she insists they can't be together. But Brayden's not one to run when some he wants is right in front of him. Watch out Alex because Brayden's coming for the thing she doesn't want to give - her heart.

Since losing her husband, Alex's life consists of her stepdaughter, and now the foundation she's volunteering for in honor of her husband. So when she meets the foundation's creator, Brayden, and he's a charming, YOUNGER, man who at first drives her nuts, but later drives her nuts in a good way, she can't help but be wary of what he wants with her. She feels the same pull he feels, but the walls around her heart are too strong for him to scale, and she tells him they cannot be together. But Brayden might be the one to prove her wrong, if she'll only let herself fall.

I have loved reading this group of friends' love stories, and couldn't pick a favorite, until now. Color me surprised too, because I'm not normally a fan of age gaps, especially reverse ones, due to the usual maturity imbalances. But there's no way I wasn't going to fall in love with this couple and their story. Brayden's sweetness, his maturity, and the way he wore his big heart on his sleeve, had me swooning from the first word. Alex was harder to connect to for awhile because of the way she kept pushing Brayden away, but her backstory drew me in and I could see where she was coming from, even as I despaired that she'd ever let Brayden love her. I wasn't sure what to expect aside from something amazing like the rest of this series, but this final installment was amazing with heart, delicious chemistry, some tearjerking moments, and the sweetest, swooniest hero of all.

Review: Waiting for You by Kate McBrien

Review of Waiting for You by Kate McBrien Justin and Lucy are apart, but for how long? Lucy's staying with her parents, but knows she needs to get out and start living her life again. But when she gets a chance to go to London, it just may be her chance to reunite with the man whose soul has been entwined with hers for centuries upon centuries. But first, our two fated lovers will have to not only reunite, but stay together, beat the odds and the people and/or forces who are trying to keep them apart. Waiting for You is a great followup to Discovering You. Justin and Lucy's story is exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection. I normally don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance anymore, but I loved it here in Waiting for You. It's subtle, but ever present and as I said, just makes their story all the more intriguing. I can't wait for the conclusio...
