Review of Far From Home (Monroe Ranch Series Book 1) by Ayla Harlow
3 star
Levi and Callie never expected to meet and fall in love all within a short period of time. Callie because she's just now 18 and out of her overbearing, overprotective parents' reach, and Levi because honestly, the man's not used to feelings, at least, not those kind of feelings. And for feelings to be for a young girl who's barely an adult, and who is only around for a short while? So not what Levi ever expected for his life. But then she leaves and takes his heart with him and I was pretty bummed, I admit, because what these two had was really pretty special. I cannot wait for the conclusion of their story now!
Far From Home is an interesting, likable story. I do wish there was a bit more relationship development, though. I wish it had developed a little slower and over a longer period of time. But, I like where their relationship was heading and could see the potential. I'm hoping the conclusion is more well-rounded and that these two are in better places in their lives, on the same page and closer in emotional maturity levels. It felt a bit out of balance with Callie being so young and immature, but I'm hopeful she'll have grown up when she and Levi get their second chance in Back In The Saddle.
