Review of Ruthless King (a Kings of Rittenhouse Novel) by Maya Hughes
Avery was the token scholarship kid at Rittenhouse. She never thought for a moment that the younger than he looked gorgeous god, Emmett, would steal her heart. Emmett, one of the many rich kids that littered the halls at Rittenhouse. But all that was in the past. Her present is taken up by getting her little sister to the college of her choice, keeping her dad sober and working, and just maybe, then she'll get to do something for herself. And then Emmett strolls back into her life with fire in his eyes. Is this a reunion for the ages or will he blast all his pain back onto her?
Avery destroyed Emmett 4 years ago and he hasn't been the same since.
"She'd stood over me with my beating heart in her hand and let me walk away.
She'd left me gasping for air, shouting at the sky, and craving her touch.
Avery Davis had dismantled me and left me as a shell."
Maybe now that they're in the same city, he can get answers and finally get her out of his head, and his heart.
But of course things don't go like that because of course not. Because Emmett and Avery still love each other and deserve, need, a second chance. But it will only happen if they can learn to trust each other, something that was lacking their first time around. He'll learn that he doesn't know everything. She'll learn to let someone in. Can they make it this time?
I absolutely loved Ruthless King!! Far more substantial than the average New Adult novel. Full of heart, heat, and a whole cast of amazing characters. Hughes' writing is top-notch and I'm so looking forward to Fearless King, which is Ford's story.
