Review of The Man I Need (Ward Duet Book 2) by Shanora Williams
If you read the first part of the Ward Duet, and were dying for answers after the cliffhanger, then have no fear, because The Man I Need answers all those questions and more. It picks up immediately where The Man I Can't Have left off, with Gabby in fear for her life. Now, she has to figure out where to go from there.
First, a warning, and it's an important one: there's a note by the author about triggers, and that warning should be heeded. The Man I Need is much heavier than The Man I Can't Have, and deals with a brutal subject, so if you have abuse triggers, then this is not the story for you. However, if you don't have those triggers, I highly recommend you dive into this one (after you read the first part of the duet) because it's pretty great - sexy, emotionally tumultuous with two substantial, layered characters.
I love how much Gabby grows as a character, and how Marcel is there for her every step of the way. She's definitely the star of The Man I Need, and Marcel her support. Speaking of Marcel - he is one swoon worthy hero! So even though he's not the star of their conclusion, he's a pretty fabulous character, one equal of the amazing woman Gabby grows into. Gabby and Marcel's road to happiness is not an easy one, nor is it pretty, but by the end, you'll be as happy as I was that they got all the love and happiness they deserved. Thank you Shanora for this emotional forbidden love story!
