Review of Justice for Aleta (Police and Fire: Operation Alpha) (Bluegrass Bravery Book 2) by Deanndra Hall
When Kentucky State Police Trooper Jack Fletcher comes upon an accident scene, he never imagines it will be the catalyst for meeting the woman to bring him back to the land of the living. Aleta is the survivor of that horrific crash, and she made an impact on Jack, and vice versa. So when they later reconnect, fate must have been playing her hand.
I have mixed feelings about Justice for Aleta, hence the 3 stars. On one hand, the case is interesting and really carried the story. On the other, the relationship between Jack and Aleta just did not work for me. Neither character was particularly interesting or substantial, and their feelings for each other were insta-love at its worst. I guess I just didn't feel their connection to be nearly as strong as it could have been, as it should have been. I wanted that oh so passionate, soulmate kinda thing that develops organically and naturally, but what they had was nowhere near that. And don't get me started on the cheesy dialogue... Basically let's just say the romance part was flat, but the suspense part, the case, was the most interesting part of the story, and it allowed me to give this 3 stars as opposed to the 2 stars the relationship deserved.
