“That man has it bad for you,” Kort consoles, sitting next to me and pulling me into her side for a sideways hug. “I’d have dumped your ass weeks ago with how psycho you’ve been, but then again, I’m a bitch…like you.” Before I have a chance to reply she adds, “Okay, let’s do this. I’ll start on this gift bag explosion and you are on mimosa duty.”
“Mimosas, really? It’s not even nine.”
“Hence, mimosas, it’s a brunch drink.”
Shaking my head, I walk into the kitchen and make a jug of mimosas and bring it and two champagne flutes into the living room. Placing everything on the coffee table, I pour two glasses and hand one to Kort.
“I don’t deserve you, Kort,” I say, as I hand her her glass.
“Ain’t that the truth. Now, let’s get this done, so we can go have a bachie-babe-arita and watch the sunset and gorge ourselves on tacos at Big Al’s.”
DL Gallie is from Queensland, Australia, but she’s lived in many different places all over the world, including the UK and Canada. She currently resides in Central Queensland with her husband and two munchkins. She and her husband have been together since she was sixteen, and although they drive each other crazy at times, she couldn’t imagine her life without him.
Shortly after her son was born, DL began reading again. With encouragement from her husband, she picked up the pen and started writing, and now the voices in her head won’t shut up.
DL enjoys listening to music, drinking white wine in the summer, red wine in the winter, and beer all year round. She’s also never been known to turn down a cocktail, especially a margarita.
