Review: Wait for Me by Tia Louise
WAIT FOR ME Noel is an 18-year-old with a dream of opening up her own store selling the products she makes using her family's peach orchard. She's heading to college, plans on working hard, taking care of her younger brother Leon while her older brother Sawyer heads off into the Marines. And then that same older brother brings his best friend, Taron, home with him for the summer, before they're deployed. It will be the summer that changes her life, takes it off the track it was heading down. All because of the man with the beautiful eyes.
But, as things are apt to do, Noel and Taron's plan of staying together falls apart because Taron comes back from deployment a changed man. A man with deep pain in his beautiful eyes. And Noel can longer reach him, can no longer see the heart she loves with all hers. Will Noel fall apart after Taron tells her to leave? Perhaps, but not if she has a reason to pick herself up and get on with life. What about when years later, Sawyer brings home a surprise guest?
Sigh...I loved Wait for Me. It's really heartbreaking in places, and I hurt for Taron, hurt for Noel, hurt for them both, as they lost time together all because of something unavoidable. But I loved reading as they came back together, how hard they worked to stay together, and how Taron redeemed himself in everyone's eyes. Tia's men and women always hold special places on my reading list, because they're always lovable characters, always deep with multiple character layers, and Taron and Noel are no exceptions to this rule. They're perfectly imperfect, and their love story is one I will not soon forget. Can't wait for big brother Sawyer's story next!
