Review Tour: Home for Holly (Hometown Hero Holiday #1) by Ava Night

Title: Home for Holly
Series: Hometown Hero Holiday #1
Author: Ava Night
Genre: Short, Sweet, Steamy Romance
Release Date: December 2, 2019
Holly Jacobs was heart-broken. She thought her high school sweetheart, Kevin, would be with her forever. But then, after announcing he’d joined the Army, Kevin unexpectedly broke it off with her and it wasn’t pretty. So when news leaks out that Kevin is back in town Holly is determined not to let it bother her. But when they meet again for the first time in six years, the sparks return faster and hotter than ever before.

A steamy, sweet, second-chance romance with a happily, ever after! 18+ only, please.
MY REVIEW
When Ava hears her high school sweetheart is back in town, she's not thrilled. After all, he left her with a broken heart and never bothered contacting her again. But, as she finds when invited to his mother's party, their chemistry is still there. Perhaps she can get him out of her system and enjoy a few weeks of fun before he ships back out again.

Or perhaps not because her heart is still his. Will he break it again when he leaves and doesn't look back?

While sweet and spicy, Home for Holly is lacking in a strong connection and I didn't get to know either Holly or Kevin well enough to like or dislike them before the ending rushed up on me. The wording in the sex scenes is a little bit squicky - the word member and the word penis are two words I hate being used in sex scenes! But the hardest part for me to get past were the weird POV shifts. The story is mostly told from third person but there were weird shifts into first person that threw me off a lot and took me out of the story and made it even harder for me to connect to this story.
“An original and pleasant story, with realistic characters!” K. Kicsak (Beta Reader) ★★★★★
Ava Night writes short, sweet, and steamy romance stories about military men and the women who love them. She is an Army veteran married to an active-duty Navy sailor and brings first-hand experiences with her writings. She graduated from the University of Tennesee. GO VOLS!

Review: One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti

Review of One Little Lie by Whitney Barbetti ONE LITTLE LIE Hollis is a good girl with a crush on a broody musician. Unfortunately, that boy, Adam, hates her. Why? Because the chip on his shoulder leaves him thinking good girl, rich girl Hollis is a lemming like everyone else in their small town. Which makes it even more unfortunate when years after their high school encounter, Hollis' best friend tries to stick up for her and ends up telling her parents that Adam is the the boyfriend Hollis doesn't actually have. Oops. How will Hollis ever convince Adam to go along with her little lie? I really liked One Little Lie. Hollis is a really naive girl, but she has such a huge heart that I couldn't help but fall in love with her spirit. She's so sweet, so compassionate, the kind of person this world needs more of. Adam, on the other hand, eh, he didn't do much for me. His chip on the shoulder, broody asshole attitude did nothing to endear me to him, but because H...
