I’d spent my life watching everything happen around me.
But never actually living it.
Sheltered. Naïve. Shy. The top three adjectives to describe me. Well, that and awkward.
Until Brent.
From the first moment, I’d met him, my filter had disappeared. The things that passed through my lips when I was with him were the thoughts that passed through my mind, but also the things I’d never dreamed of saying aloud. But he seemed to like them, and I couldn’t stop. Not when he was also gentle, kind, and protective. As well as the most beautiful man I’d ever laid eyes on. A total winning package, and one who was into me.
But I was me.
More comfortable on the edges, better at observing rather than living. I’d pushed my boundaries just once, had really gone for what life was offering me, and that had ended about as well as an elephant trying to parachute with a tissue.
Horribly. It had ended horribly. So I wasn’t going to be ready to try again. Not ever.
Even if Brent made a very convincing argument to just suck it up and go for it.

MY REVIEW
Brent is just doin' his thing at Kace's bar when a tiny, gorgeous woman literally runs into him. She's looking for her purse. But what Brent wants to give her is far more than that...Iris spends her days baking up masterpieces, trying to start over away from her cheating ex and friends who didn't bother to inform her of his cheating, when she runs into a gorgeous sweetheart of a man who found the purse she left at the bar. Can two people with insecurities and baggage make a relationship work, especially when one of them has a secret?
I loved this sweet, emotional story. Poor Brent, I just wanted to give him a big, no, HUGE hug to soothe all the pain he was carrying around inside. Thank God for Brooke, from Rum and Notes, who gave him a good talking to and got him out of his head. Iris was absolutely perfect for this sweetheart of a man, with her big heart, who just wanted to lavish all her love on him. And that out of the blue twist in the epilogue?! Damn! Now I've really got to read On the Rocks!
