Review & Release Blast: Keeping You Away (Tyler & Gemma Duet #1) by Kennedy Fox

I never planned on returning to Alabama, but circumstances brought me here after years of being gone. Though Lawton Ridge is my hometown, I was hesitant to go back because of her —my sister’s best friend. The last time we were together, she was eighteen, and I was a broken soldier transitioning to civilian life.

Gemma wrote to me while I was overseas and we developed a bond I hadn’t anticipated. I crushed her heart the day I left, something I’ve never forgotten. But now that her dad is my new boss, life just got way more complicated.

Too sweet, too innocent, too good for a guy like me—I should walk away again.

After serving five years in prison for something I didn’t do, I trust no one, but Gemma gradually breaks down my walls and exposes the pain I’ve hidden underneath. For her own sake, I should keep my distance, but it’s nearly impossible when I hear her sweet humming while I work and she slowly draws me back in. It’s a battle I didn’t train for, and one I’ll lose if I don’t keep my restraint—especially since she’s engaged to another man.

Keeping You Away is a slow-burn, angsty romance wrapped up in an intense love story. It’s book 1 in the Tyler & Gemma duet & must be read first.

MY REVIEW
Tyler has never forgotten his beautiful Gemma, nor gotten over her. But after having served in the military and having gotten out of prison for a crime he didn't commit, he's not in any state to be thinking of starting anything with her. Not to mention that she's an engaged woman now. In a way he wishes he wouldn't have to see her again, but he's going to be working for her dad, so seeing her is inevitable. He'll just have to suck it up.

Gemma's less than pleased to find out her dad hired the man who broke her heart all those years ago. But her dad is all about paying it forward and giving people chances, so she'll have to suck it up. She just didn't count on her damn body betraying her every time she's in the same room as he. But she's an engaged woman, and loves her fiancé, so she won't be anything more to Tyler than just a friend and his boss's daughter. Right?

Wrong...because the chemistry between them cannot be denied, no matter that she's engaged. And I just know they'll find their way back to each other. If and that's a big if, the person who came on the scene in the ending doesn't mess things up for them!

I am dying to find out what happens next for Tyler and Gemma, mainly for Tyler because I want him to find the happiness he deserves. I admit I'm not that fond of Gemma - she's wishy washy and a bit of a wimp. I wanted her to stand up to her douchey fiancé earlier, and take back her life. I also didn't like how she lashed out at Tyler when she was in the wrong. Eh. But Tyler loves her so I'll deal because she's who he wants. Though this part of their story was slow burn, it set up for what I can tell is going to be an epic conclusion.

Review: Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette (American Revolutionary Tales 2) by Regina Kammer

Review of Winter Interlude: An American Revolutionary Novelette by Regina Kammer Captain Samuel Taylor and Lieutenant Patrick Hamilton recall their first steamy encounter, which was a MFM threesome in a brothel. It morphed into more and now the two are contemplating their futures with the women they love, and their futures with each other. If you think times are hard for the LGBT community now, think of how hard they were during the American Revolution. Winter Interlude is well developed, which is surprising given its short length. I am so interested in knowing what is to become of Samuel and Patrick's forbidden relationship. Do they stay together? Or do they go their separate ways, and live out their lives with their women? Now that they've admitted their love for each other, how impossible would it be for them to be without each other? I have to know, now! If you like MM fiction and/or historical fiction, I highly recommend you give Winter Interlude a read. It...
