Review & Release Blast: Southern Sunrise (Southern #4) by Natasha Madison

Release Date: July 7

Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.
Emily
I fell in love with him when I was fourteen. Under the stars, he told me he loved me, and under the stars we promised to love each other always. But under the stars, he broke my heart by walking away.

He left me without a second glance. I was just an afterthought.
Now he's back, but this time, I'm not falling for his Southern charm.

Maybe.

It’s time I get my happily ever after, even if part of me wishes he was still mine.

Ethan
I found out on my twenty-first birthday that everything I thought I knew was a lie, and the man I had grown up thinking was my father wasn't.

The pain I felt blinded me, making it impossible to hear what anyone said.
I left them all behind, including her, my best friend and the woman I was going to marry.

Five years later, I'm back, only to find the woman I still love has another man's ring on her finger.

She’s going to marry my best friend unless I stop her. And this time, I only have until sunrise to change her mind.

MY REVIEW
When Ethan found out the big secret of his biological father, he didn't take it well. In fact, he took it so badly that he hurt his entire family with some harsh words, and left for 5 years, cutting off all contact with them. Now he's back after having survived a harrowing mission that still haunts him to this day. He'll find the town is not so welcoming, and he has a ton of work to do to get his family to trust him enough to let him back into their lives. But the person he really wants back the most is his Sunrise, his Emily. Will she give him a second chance? Let him redeem himself?

When Ethan ghosted everyone who loved him 5 years ago, Emily somehow found the strength to move on. And then Ethan came waltzing back into town expecting a second chance. Emily knows her heart cannot take being ripped apart again, so she vehemently denies all his attempts at talking. And besides, she's engaged now, so there's not a chance she's letting Ethan talk his way back into her heart. Except...he never left her heart, and she knows it. What choice will she make? A second chance? Or ghost Ethan the way he ghosted her?

Damn, this was one angsty, cry your eyes out kind of story. There was so much anger, and sadness, and disappointment roiling around in everyone's hearts. And I just wanted to smack Ethan for hurting everyone. Yes, I felt for him, but come on, family isn't only blood, it's who raised you, who loves you, not whose blood happens to run in your veins. I was not Team Ethan, even by the end, it's why 4 instead of 5 stars. I just felt he acted like a whiny child throwing a tantrum when he left everyone, and that when he came home, everyone got past it way too quickly. Aside from Ethan, though, I liked this story. Emily is strong and a total sweetheart, and Ethan's family is awesome, especially poor Jacob, whose grief and disappointment was felt the most keenly by me.

Meet Natasha Madison
When her nose isn't buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she's in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It's a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn't listen to her...

Review: Waiting for You by Kate McBrien

Review of Waiting for You by Kate McBrien Justin and Lucy are apart, but for how long? Lucy's staying with her parents, but knows she needs to get out and start living her life again. But when she gets a chance to go to London, it just may be her chance to reunite with the man whose soul has been entwined with hers for centuries upon centuries. But first, our two fated lovers will have to not only reunite, but stay together, beat the odds and the people and/or forces who are trying to keep them apart. Waiting for You is a great followup to Discovering You. Justin and Lucy's story is exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection. I normally don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance anymore, but I loved it here in Waiting for You. It's subtle, but ever present and as I said, just makes their story all the more intriguing. I can't wait for the conclusio...
