Review / Release Blitz: Backlash (The Rivals #2) by Geneva Lee

Backlash by Geneva Lee is now live!

Rivals #2
She's a wildfire. He lit the match...

I thought my life was hell until the devil walked through my door. Sterling isn't the boy who stole my heart anymore. He's cunning, manipulative, and dangerous--so why does my body ache for his touch?

I thought I could trust him. I should have known better. He's broken my heart twice. Now there's nothing left to break. Because I'm not the girl he fell for or the woman he used. He thought he could play me. He thought he could hurt me. But I'm a survivor, and while I might respond to every stolen kiss, every forbidden moment, there's one piece of me he'll never touch. I sold my soul to protect it, and no one can ever learn the truth--not even Sterling Ford.
****
I never thought I'd find myself begging for Adair's forgiveness. But she belongs to me. She always has and she always will. No matter how hard she tries to rewrite history.

It's too late to change who we've become. Maybe nothing can save us now. Maybe nothing ever could. I built my fortune with blood, fueled by lies, and soon my past will catch up with both of us. I can't protect her from the man I've become, and no one can save me from the storm that's coming--not even Adair MacLaine.

New York Times bestselling author Geneva Lee delivers with the second book in the Rivals series, an emotional roller coaster that'll leave you begging for more!

MY REVIEW
Here in the second part of their story, Adair has decided all she really wants from Sterling is for him to open up to her. If he can't/won't do that, then she's gone. Except...not really, because she keeps letting him wiggle back into her life, well, in her bed at least, and if it confused and frustrated me, I can only imagine what it did to him.

Not a whole lot of reveals happened, but he was a bit more forthcoming, and that pacified her a bit, then the cliffhanger happened, and I was once again left with lots of questions and few of my previous ones answered.

The story weaves back and forth between past and present nearly every chapter, and I have to admit it was a bit discombobulating for me as I was reading, to be in the present in one chapter, then hop back to the past immediately with the next chapter. I like how much we got of their backstory in those past chapters, I just wish the switching was not every other chapter, it was a bit much for me.

So why 3.5 stars? Well, as I said, I was frustrated with Adair's push and pull. I didn't like so much back and forth in the timelines, and I can also say that I didn't really connect very strongly with either Sterling or Adair. I don't dislike them, I'm just waiting until I can really fall for them. Hopefully in the next installment, I'll feel a stronger connection with them, I will get more answers than questions, and that the weaving back and forth is not so often.

Review: Waiting for You by Kate McBrien

Review of Waiting for You by Kate McBrien Justin and Lucy are apart, but for how long? Lucy's staying with her parents, but knows she needs to get out and start living her life again. But when she gets a chance to go to London, it just may be her chance to reunite with the man whose soul has been entwined with hers for centuries upon centuries. But first, our two fated lovers will have to not only reunite, but stay together, beat the odds and the people and/or forces who are trying to keep them apart. Waiting for You is a great followup to Discovering You. Justin and Lucy's story is exciting and passionate, and the mystical/fantasy/paranormal aspect just adds another interesting layer to their already wonderful connection. I normally don't read a lot of paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi romance anymore, but I loved it here in Waiting for You. It's subtle, but ever present and as I said, just makes their story all the more intriguing. I can't wait for the conclusio...
